The bite has really been consistent . The bass at Lake of Egypt are feeding heavily on shad
through out the lake.

Numerous presentations work well right now. Although my favorite goto bait is a shak-ee head
made by Lunker Lure rigged with a straight tail worm. I am using a black worm rigged on a
football head. Work this bait around weeds, brush piles, and drop-offs. Keep in contact with the
bottom and slowly work the bait back to the boat.

Another presentation is the good ole 10in. worm with a 3/8 screw in weight. Dark colors are my
choice. I like the weight screwed into the worm because you have a better sense of feel around
all structure you fish. I also believe you get hung up less when fishing brush piles.

A guaranteed way for you to boat some bass on your next outing is on your favorite topwater
plug. The bass are currently schooling in the mornings and evenings, but can be caught all day if
your in the right areas. This is a visual presentation, so when you see the bass busting the
surface, make sure to cast your plug in the middle of them. You can also use a Hawg Caller
spinnerbait in sexy shad, just burn it through the school of bass and hold on!

Jigs are also working well, Lunker Lure's Ultimate jig is the one you want on the brush piles. This
is the absolute best jig around to fish around and through wood. Black and blue and Texas Craw
are my two favorites on all our Southern Illinois lakes!
If you are fishing the drop-offs a Lunker Lure Rattlin football jig in 1/2 ounce will do a better job
for you. I use the same colors as above, plus Okeechobee Craw.

Also deep diving crankbaits will catch bass if fished in the right areas. You must make loooooong
cast for this to be effective. You might also consider trolling them if you want to relax a little.

Basically the bass are in full summer mode. These lures and presentations will work consistently
for the next couple months. So the report will not change much. If one of these lures is your
favorite stick with it and you will catch em .

Until next time.............................................
